Modern artistic weddings are true works of art that genuinely reflect the spirits and personalities of a couple’s soul. Knowing who you are together helps bring out the memorable artistic elements that make your wedding uniquely yours. Artful elements of weddings help to create a mood for your guests to enjoy. The elements include each and every detail you select—from the dress to the location, the colors to the flowers and invitations. By adding artful elements to your wedding, guests will pick up a certain emotion. The elements of an artful wedding include: principles, tools, content, communication and uniqueness.

When designing your wedding with the focus of creating art, you are leaving a lasting impression for your guests of who you are together as a couple. A wedding day is art; in its purest form, it is a day of self-expression and celebration, creating a story in the details.

From the décor to the wedding cake, each fine-tuning of details is an expression of two individuals creating art for one of the most important days of their lives. What is art? How is a wedding considered art? To answer these questions we must first define the four elements of art and how they are incorporated in a wedding.

The principles of art are in the design; creating images in your head and envisioning what type of wedding you desire is the first step. By doing this, both the bride and groom are painting the first brush stroke on their wedding canvas. Utilize websites and blogs to help you with the design portion. Take the time to research elements that interest you. Start with one main idea and slowly build off it. Begin creating a storyboard with the elements for your wedding design.

Secondly, use tools to make your wedding vision memorable. Many couples choose photography as top among their first wedding day choices. Ensure that you have commissioned an artist that can capture your wedding in an artful way. Artistic photographs are tools to help you relive the day while cherishing the emotions that you shared with your spouse. Images can make you speechless when they properly evoke the many memories that unfold on your wedding day. Ensuring that you have commissioned a reputable artistic photographer is priceless.

The next step is content--what are the bride and groom trying to portray on their wedding day? Take heart, you and your significant other know your story the best. Be sure to use the details to describe who each of you are as individuals and the art will follow.

Last is communication; artists express their emotions in the details. A wedding does the same. Weddings communicate to the bride and groom’s family and friends how you met, how you fell in love and the feelings you’ve invested in one another.
